In the midst of infighting in the Congress’ Punjab faction, Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday met with the party’s general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Sidhu in a tweet said, “Had a long meeting with @priyankagandhi Ji.”
On Monday, Sidhu had left his Patiala residence for Delhi. He was supposed to meet the Gandhis on Tuesday, but the meeting didn’t happen even as Rahul Gandhi had said no meeting was scheduled with the Punjab leader.
Sidhu’s recent attacks on State chief minister Amarinder Singh involve the alleged delay in justice in the 2015 incidents of sacrilege.
On May 20 tweeted, Navjot Singh Sidhu had tweeted, “In 2019, I began & ended my Election Campaign in Punjab seeking – Justice for Sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji & punishing the culprits & the ONE shielding them… Now, Our MLAs & Party Workers must go to Delhi & speak the Truth of Punjab to our High Command, as I regularly do!”
Amarinder Singh responded by slamming him for continuing to criticise him over the sacrilege issue, calling his outbursts ‘complete indiscipline’.
Navjot Singh Sidhu quit Amarinder Singh’s Cabinet in July 2019 after he was divested of the local bodies portfolio.
